“The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night’s sleep.”
~ Matthew Walker, Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams
Hi There! Sleepless? I was. Then I found sleep. And you can, too.
I’m a mom, writer and insomniac turned sleep coach.
Over the years, I’ve had bouts of insomnia that have lasted anywhere from a few days to a few months. From having a hard time falling asleep at night to having a hard time staying asleep and an even harder time getting up in the morning, I’ve been there.
Then, in March 2020, when the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak a global pandemic, I was sleepless for days. The days turned into weeks and pretty soon, I’d been tossing and turning, staring at the clock, and having full out anxiety attacks in the middle of the night for well over two months. Something had to change.
I started researching the types of insomnia and learned everything I could about sleep disturbances and natural ways to cure sleeplessness. Then I started trying different coping techniques and home remedies and somewhere along the way, I found sleep. I’ve since become a sleep coach and I now spend my days researching and writing about the best ways to find deep, restful sleep.
Sleep is the key to just about everything – it enhances your memory and makes you more creative, it keeps you healthy, physically and mentally, it lowers your risk of heart attacks, stroke and dementia and it makes you feel happier and less anxious. Kind of makes you want to sleep better, doesn’t it?
Can’t sleep? Come spend some time thinking and musing with me and together we’ll find new and inventive ways get more and better sleep.
